New grass cutting schedule for Oxfordshire and how to report issues

Oxfordshire County Council have issued the following information to all Oxfordshire Parish Town and District Councils regarding the new grass cutting regime that commences this year.

This drastic reduction in grass cutting  is being introduced due to budget cuts.

Update on county council’s grass cutting programme

In 2016, the county council will carry out one general cut across the whole of the county’s road
network.  This includes visibility splays at junctions and grass verges 1 metre back from the kerb.

The general cut for this year began on 20th June 2016.

Details of the summer grass cutting programme are now available on the county council’s website at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/content/grass-verge-cutting-programme-2016

[Chadlington Parish Council Clerk note – According to OCC’s grass cutting map,  Chadlington appears to be split into two areas (N1a and N1 b) but grass cutting commenced late July and it appears all cutting should be completed by the end of August ]

Oxfordshire County Council(OCC) is also dealing with visibility splay sites in accordance with safety requirements of individual sites as they are reported to us (or observed by highways inspectors).

If you believe a certain area of grass poses an immediate risk to road safety, please report it via ‘Fix my Street’ website  or the council’s Customer Service Centre on 0845 310 1111.

For issues regarding overgrown footpaths and cycle routes, please report it online

  • using ‘Fix My Street‘ website
  • the online reporting map available at https://camsv.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ but you will need to register it first;  or
  • contact the OCC footpaths officer for West Oxfordshire, Dan Weeks. His telephone is 01865 810225 or email him at dan.weeks@oxfordshire.gov.uk
