Save A Life – new smartphone app to locate your nearest defibrillator

Chadlington has an Automated External Defibrillator (known as an AED) – located in Abbeyfield porch. Many other villages served by South Central Ambulance Service are also lucky enough to have one available for emergencies.

But would you know which one if you needed to help someone having cardiac arrest or a heart attack?

The following information is provided by NHS South Central Ambulance Service:

Save A Life app

Save a Life is a free Android and Apple app from the NHS South Central Ambulance Service that uses GPS functionality to show where your nearest defibrillator is.

Where is your nearest AED?

We have an amazing Android & Apple app that users can access via their smartphone or tablet.

Our app uses GPS functionality to show where the nearest AED is as well as a list of other AEDs in the area.

It also features videos, cardiopulmonary resuscitation instructions and a section that will answer many of your cardiac arrest and heart attack questions.

Go to www.scas.nhs.uk/savealife and find your nearest defibrillator before it’s too late.

Remember, the first thing to do in any real emergency is to ring 999.

Please make sure that you have the latest version of the App installed and that you regularly update the list or clear your internet cache as appropriate to your device.

If you already have an AED installed but can’t see it on our map, please tell us about it by emailing cfr@scas.nhs.uk

The Trust’s Public Access Defibrillator initiative is designed to complement SCAS’ Community First Responder (CFR) Schemes across our region and to enhance the service we provide.

Please note that the previous ‘AED Locator’ app is now unsupported. We recommend that you delete the old app and install the new ‘Save a life’ app instead.
