Power Cut Explanation from SSE

A local resident has sought an explanation for the long power cut last Wednesday, 17th May which left many households in Chadlington, Charlbury and beyond without power for more than 6 hours. Their explanation is as follows:

“The main network failed at 17.23 on 17th May as per procedure we paged all staff in the area to get to the switching points, this helps us to redirect the network to get the supply restored quicker. The process began at 18.39, we realised that we needed extensive tree works as the trees were coming into contact with our network. We ordered generators and managed to get more staff from other areas to help, the first generator was on site at 00.46 and we connected your local substation first and your supply was restored by 00.58 via generation.”

“We are on site today 23rd May working on the repair and you should experience a slight interruption tomorrow 24th May while we remove the generators and put you back on the main network.”
