New recycling service set to launch

There will be a new recycling service in West Oxfordshire. From October, all households will use a wheelie bin for recycling, except for glass which will be collected from their existing black box.

The recycling service will become fortnightly, alternating with household rubbish and residents will be issued with a new recycling wheelie bin between July and September in readiness for the change.

Also, small electrical items such as kettles, hairdryers and mobile phones will be recycled at the kerbside. There will be no changes to fortnightly household rubbish and none to weekly food collections while garden waste will continue to be collected fortnightly provided residents have a licence.

A letter explaining the changes to the service which will be run by local authority company Ubico from October will be sent to residents during the week beginning 10 July with delivery of the new wheelie bins taking place from 17 July.
