Snow – the Aftermath

Despite the thaw and rain on Wednesday, Chadlington is still quite snowy and there are some icy patches or roads and pavements. Potholes have appeared in some roads. The ones in the village have been noted by the Parish Council and reported to the water company and local councils. Hopefully they will be attended to soon.

The other consequence of the snow is that household waste and other rubbish has not been collected this week so far. West Oxfordshire District Council will be trying to catch up with collections, including some weekend work. They have also sent a message to all those who have paid to have garden waste collected:

“Due to snow and icy road conditions at the beginning of the week, we are now catching up on two days of delayed collections. As our crews are concentrating on clearing rubbish, recycling and food waste before Christmas, we have suspended our garden waste collection service earlier than planned. It will resume on the scheduled date of 9 January, 2018. We apologise for bringing the date forward and hope that you understand why we have done this. However, if you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact us at enquiries@westoxon.gov.uk

So now perhaps we can settle down to some mild, damp weather that is nowadays more typical of this time of year.
