Chadlington football season off to an exciting start

Greg Kemp fixture secretary for the Chadlington 1st Men’s football team has sent this report about how our local clubs are faring in the new season:

The adult men’s team started the season in September with a win each for the First Team and the Reserve Team. The Firsts beat Bampton United 6-1 and the Reserves beat Ascott Rangers 4-1. With 26 players used the average age of the squad was just 22. The youngest in memory. The first team plays Charlbury away in a ‘local derby’ on 13th October at 1.30 p.m.

Football training for the adult team is on Wednesdays at the club from 7pm to 8pm.

The Ladies football team continue to train on Mondays at Kingham Hill School’s astroturf pitch under floodlights (6.30pm to 7.30pm). New players are always welcome to attend.

The Junior teams have also started the football season with training and games for the younger age groups on Saturday mornings. This year the club has 9 youth teams.

On Sundays the Under 16s are competing in the Witney & District League and although they’ve had a tough start to the season, it is hoped that results will turn around soon. The Under 17s play in the Oxfordshire Invitation Youth League and are currently 2nd in the Premier Division after 4 games played. They beat Hanborough 8-0 on 7th October!

In other club news: The Sports Club annual general meeting (AGM) will take place on Wednesday 5th December from 8.30pm in the clubhouse. See the Sports and Social Club website for more information on teams, fixtures and results.

Go along on match days and cheer on our village teams!
