New Chairman for Chadlington Sports Club

The Editor has received the following news from Greg Kemp:

At his 10th AGM as chairman of the Sports Club Mark Lambert has decided to step down in his role. During his tenure the club as a whole has gone from strength to strength.

Over the past decade all aspects of the club have been improved and it can boast to have some of the best facilities in the area while living within its means. We have seen the emergence of thriving junior sections in both football and cricket as well as the continuation of adult teams under changing times. The club also continues to provide a location for darts, dominoes, Aunt Sally and cribbage teams. In the summer of 2012 the club was also able to increase its playing area when the Centenary Field was opened.

The committee wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Mark for all his time and effort in securing the clubs future. Departing in his role, Mark added “that there is so much to be proud of and I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this success story. As is appropriate for a Sports Club it has always been a team effort and I thank all the volunteers that make this club something to be proud of in the village”.

At the AGM, John Townsend duly stepped up into the Chairman’s position. John has been a part of the club for many years and as a familiar face in the village he will be sure to steer the club in the right direction. Congratulations and good luck John!

On the field the focus is on football and both junior and adult teams continue to successfully compete in their respective leagues.  Additionally the club can now offer opportunities for women’s football. The team are always looking for new players to join in with training sessions and games. For more information please email chadlingtonlfc@gmail.com.

Cricket will soon burst into action as the weather improves. The adult team will start indoor net sessions at Charlbury on 17th March with old and new players actively encouraged to get involved. Junior cricket will also once again be returning over the summer with more details to follow in future updates.
